Lee Gutkind: I Wasn’t Strong Like This When I Started Out: True Stories of Becoming a Nurse

My usual Roxy’s Best Of sub-sites tend to focus on the best local restaurants, activities for kids, etc. in a particular town such as Mendham or Chester, NJ. Other Roxy’s Best Of sub-sites include pages for my reviews and links to my favorite books for kids or books for grown-ups. On this page, however, I’m taking a new approach to blogging and will be posting about my older daughter London’s adventures in the pre-med/nursing path to a career in healthcare.

You may wonder, as Rex and I have, where our daughter got a “medical” gene, as I tend to faint at the sight of blood, and Rex has asked London to refrain from discussing cadavers or EMT procedures at the dinner table. Just like London’s talent for dance, it will remain a mystery.  As London prepares to leave for college in the Fall, pursuing a unique combination of a Bachelor’s degree in Nursing (BSN) and a pre-med concentration, I’ve decided to familiarize myself with both the nursing and pre-med pathways….not, of course, up close and personal, but by reading books.

One of my first selections is I Wasn’t Strong Like This When I Started Out: True Stories of Becoming a Nurse by Lee Gutkind.
